Biology Academic Advisor

The Biology Major Program is seeking a motivated, caring individual to join our advising team. Our faculty, staff, and students have created a vibrant place to learn, teach, and conduct research, a place rich in opportunity, ideas, creativity, and resources, and a place where people can flourish and discover their own potential. Because we engage people with widely differing backgrounds, talents, perspectives, and styles, we achieve excellence through diversity.

The Biology Major at UW-Madison is a cross-college undergraduate major offered to students in both the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the College of Letters & Science. For administrative purposes, the major is housed in the departments of Bacteriology (CALS) and Integrative Biology (L&S). The advisors serve students in both colleges, though for personnel purposes their positions are formally located within the Department of Bacteriology. The Biology Major academic advisors serve approximately 1,200 students. The Biology Major is designed for students who are interested in a broad exposure to the concepts and methodologies of the biological sciences, as well as those interested in a more specific subdiscipline. There is currently one specialized option within the major, in Evolutionary Biology.
