Kavita Mitkari

Hello Folks, I am Kavita Mitkari, a postdoc at the Space Science and Engineering Center. I
work on satellite images for extraction of information related to snow, glaciers, sea-ice, and
icebergs.
As the Co-Vice President of UW-Madison Postdoctoral Association along with Smrithika, I
am committed to fulfilling all the duties of the President during their absence, oversee the
UWPA committees in general including the Annual Postdoc Research Symposium
committee and the Celebration of Postdoc Excellence committee, and recruiting committee
chairs and members as needed. Most recently, I served as a co-chair of the 2024 Celebration
of Postdoc Excellence Committee. I look forward to continuing my work serving the postdocs
on the UW-Madison campus. Being an international scholar myself, I would like to have an
increased and diverse representation of international postdocs including people of color,
minorities and LGBTQ+ in the various committees.
Apart from my research work, I like to network with people, hang out with friends, watch
movies and web series, visit new places, and sometimes I like cooking and play badminton.
