Safana Ismael

I hold a dual Ph.D. in Physics Education and Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER), and I’m currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Branchaw Lab at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My research explores how students reason, reflect, and engage with problem-solving while learning science. I’m passionate about understanding how people think and learn, fostering inclusive environments that support both professional growth and personal well-being, and building communities where people feel connected and valued. Outside of research, I enjoy baking, cooking, and spending time with my little cookie monster ( my daughter). Through the Wellness Committee, I hope to help cultivate balance, belonging, and a strong sense of community among postdoctoral scholars at UW-Madison.
