I am Kelechi Andrew Agwu, and I completed my MSc (2023) and Ph.D. (2025) at the University of Alabama under the supervision of Prof. James Sheehan, whose major research interests were in the sustainable fractionation of lignocellulosic biomass using high-boiling point solvents, extensive characterization of isolated lignocellulose components, and subsequent utilization of these components. Since June 2025, I have been a Research Associate/Postdoctoral Scholar in the Biological Systems Engineering (BSE) department and also affiliated with the United States Department of Agriculture-Forest Service-Forest Products Laboratory (USDA-FS-FPL), where I work in the groups of Prof. Biljana Bujanovic (USDA-FS-FPL) and Troy Runge (UWM) on biomass fractionation using sustainable and biorenewable solvents, preservation of lignin structural integrity during fractionation, and strategies for effective synthesis of sustainable lignin-polymer blends.
