International Committee

Mission Statement

The mission of the International Committee within the UW-Madison Postdoctoral Association (UWPA) is to support the diverse needs of international postdocs.

The three primary goals of the International Committee are to:
1. Educate: We collaborate with International Faculty and Staff Services, and external legal professionals to ensure postdocs fully understand visa and immigration rules and regulations and can make informed decisions about their current situations and future plans.
2. Advocate: We act as a liaison with institutional leadership and shared governance committees, to advocate for policies and procedures that support the needs of international postdocs at UW-Madison, ensuring that changes in immigration laws and institutional policies and procedures are communicated effectively, and that postdocs have a voice in relevant discussions.
3. Build community: We foster connections among international postdocs who may face similar challenges thereby creating a support network for sharing experiences and advice.
